A positive attitude – it will get you places. But isn’t it so easy to be stuck in our bad habits: we stress so much, we doubt our capabilities, question what others think of us or come from a ‘bad’ background. It can easily take over our lives. We all face complications and have issues and we just can’t run and hide away from them… they will still be there. So what matters most is how we deal with them. When we develop a positive attitude and are able to keep it up during the low points of our life, our lives won’t seem so bad. 🙂

1 – Positive Environment

A classic, but a goody because you can have direct control over this one. The concept is to reduce all the negatives that attempt to play havoc on our mind.

  • Have you noticed that when your day starts out bad then your whole day is gone? And when something good happens it made your day.
  • Ideally weed out the negative people from your life. And yes I acknowledge sometimes we don’t have this option. How do I cope with it? I remind myself is with these words “through one ear and out the other”. It helps me pass the moment of time.
  • Don’t absorb yourself in the media so much as the media news tends to cover mostly negative events and is known for misrepresenting what really goes on in the world.
  • Replace it with other types of media such as positive quotes and messages, uplifting music and informative programming.

2 – Stop Worrying

Try it out. It’s easy to not accept this especially when to worry is such a part of us. Most of us worry about our day and what will happen in the weeks, months and years to come.

  • When you accept that these problems are a part of your life, your worries start to reduce and go away.
  • You only create unnecessary extra tension when you worry about things out of your hand.
  • When you are able to stop worrying you might find it wasn’t as bad as it was. Take a look at your own problems, sometimes it may not have been a problem in the first place.
  • Because you didn’t worry you were able to redirect the energy into being more productive and you are ab;e to produce better results.

3 – Have a Belief

Start with a belief in yourself. When we face a problem it doesn’t mean it is the end… really it’s true.

  • Maybe it wasn’t meant to be and another opportunity will come your way.
  • If you feel like you have hit rock bottom there is only one way and that’s up.
  • See it as a learning experience and use it to keep going forward with what you want to do.
  • A great example would be that of my role model Steve Job if he never had left Apple, Pixar and NeXt would have never been created. And if he never gave Apply another shot… well who knows, we may have never had an iPhone.

4 – Trial and Error: Be Persistent

Here’s how to maintain that belief. Failures have to be a part of success.

  • Forget about staying in our comfort zone as nothing will change from that.
  • It is only when we live through struggle we can learn how to improve from it.
  • If repeated we’ll make an improvement even that much more. For example, I had mentioned in my 5 Ways to Stay Motivated to Exercise post that through trial and error I was able to find out how to lose weight.
  • And the moral of the story 😛 You keep on going until eventually you will get there.

5 – Share

  • We always want something and we always want to take. True or false? 🙂 How about having a go at giving to people you know and strangers too.
  • Share that positivity with others and you may find you’ll get a buzz from it.
  • Go somewhere where people are there for a common cause to learn something or to give.
  • Do it because it makes you feel good that you helped someone out and not because you expect something in return.

Try it for a day, week and a month and notice what difference it made for you. I would love to hear about it in the comments below or tweet me at @PDHotspot

Until next time.
